Michael DeLacy is a physiotherapist with 30 years of clinical practice under his belt treating people with cerebral palsy and similar conditions. His experience includes working for the Cerebral Palsy League (with 10 years as the Professional Lead) as well as undertaking research, presenting and publishing data nationally and internationally.
He has also worked for more than 12 years as the senior physiotherapist at Queensland Children’s Motion Analysis Service at the Centre for Child Health Research, next to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (previously known as the Queensland Children’s Gait laboratory, located at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Herston).
In 2005 he established and continues to manage the Queensland Cerebral Palsy Register and has served 2 terms as Chair of the Australian Cerebral Palsy Register collaboration. In his personal life, Michael has recently dusted off his joggers and started competing in triathlons again (at an albeit slower pace) , which takes up much of the daylight left over after a 6-day working week. His evenings are spent with his wife, trying to stay in touch with their 2 grown up children, occasional theatre nights with his mother and an annual trip to Byron Bay Bluesfest.
